What are the wearing parts of grinding mill ?

The wearing parts of a grinding mill can vary depending on the type and design of the mill, but generally, they include:

  1. Grinding Media: These can be balls, rods, or other shapes that grind the material. They experience high wear due to constant impact and abrasion.

  2. Liners: Mill liners protect the mill shell from wear. They are made of rubber, composite, or metal and are placed strategically on the inner surface of the mill.

  3. Wear Plates: These are used to protect specific areas of the mill from excessive wear, extending the life of other mill components.

  4. Shell Plates: These are similar to liners but are specific to the cylindrical part of the mill.

  5. End Liners/Covers: These protect the ends of the mill and are subject to wear from both the grinding media and the material being processed.

  6. Diaphragms: In multi-compartment mills, diaphragms are used to manage the flow of material and it experiences wear due to the passage of both material and media.

  7. Trunnion Liners: Found especially in ball mills, these protect the inlet and outlet trunnions from wear.

  8. Bearings: Although not traditionally considered wearing parts, the bearings in the mill support rotational and axial loads and can experience wear over time.

Regular inspection and maintenance of these parts are crucial to ensure the efficient and continuous operation of the grinding mill.
