What was the magnetic ore separator used for?

The magnetic ore separator, invented by Thomas Edison, was used to separate iron ore from unwanted material. It worked by exploiting the magnetic properties of iron ore, allowing the iron particles to be attracted to a magnetic field while non-magnetic materials were left behind. This process helped in the concentration of the ore, making it easier and more economical to extract and use in various industrial applications, especially in steel manufacturing.
